The Nopany Institute of Management Studies organized a cultural event called 'Lensation in Thakurbari' on February 22, 2022. The activity took place in Jorasanko Thakurbari campus, one of the most beautiful heritage sites in the heart of North Kolkata. Rabindranath Tagore happened to spend his childhood here. The place now houses the Rabindra Bharati Museum.
The activity was an initiative by the two clubs - Montage and Kalpanikam. These are the photography and art and crafts clubs, respectively, at NIMS.
The aim of this event was to explore the photography skills and the creative acumen of the students at NIMS. The participants got a chance to capture the beautiful landscape of Jorasanko Thakurbari through their lenses.
Photography is a holistic experience. While taking a picture, one decides what to capture, checks if the lighting is appropriate and decides how to frame it. In this process, the person lends their unique perspective and reveals something about themselves to the audience.
Creativity is a major form of self expression that 'Lensation in Thakurbari' envisions to inspire and encourage. All the participants were super excited to be a part of this activity where they grasped the opportunity to hone their artistic and imaginative sides.
The students also presented the photographs and the artworks in front of the entire NIMS fraternity.
